Resep: Easy Croque Monsieur Recipe
Sounds fancy as it's French, Croque Monsieur, a typical sandwich from France along with Croque Madam (with fried egg). I used white bread because that's all I have in hand. What makes it different from regular sandwich is the sauce, white sauce made with butter flour mixture (roux) and milk. I found that some also use cheese sauce to replace the bechamel. Lately, it can be found easily at not only in restaurants but also at some coffee shops here in Jakarta.
The most necessary, cheese, to me it's not a sandwich without cheese. Emmental and Gruyere is the most common, but feel free to add your favorite. I did not have both so I used Butterkäse, soft cheese with buttery flavor, very popular in Germany, too bad I can't find it here in Indonesia. My sister brought me some, well to me it's precious hehe.. It's great for sandwich with stringy melting effect like mozzarella but better.

Ingredients:
- 2 slices bread of your choice, buttered the outter side
- 2-3 tbsp bechamel sauce, find out how to make it, here
- 2 slices ham or smoked beef
- cheese of your choice, preferably emmental or gruyere
Directions: watch the video, bake in the oven at 175C until the cheese melt
