Chicken Masala Karahi



Chicken karahi, also known as gosht karahi (when prepared with goat or lamb meat instead of chicken) and kadai chicken is a Pakistani and North Indian dish noted for its spicy taste and usage of capsicum. It is said that only one utensil is enough to cook this dish and that is a Karahi(wok).
This recipe was given to me by one of my Friends who lives in Pakistan, who spoke top me about how this dish is one of his Families favourites. I couldn't wait to start cooking and share this with my family and this recipe with the rest of the people in the World.



 Ingredients 

1/2 kg Chicken
1 Onion
1 Green cardamom
4 Tomatoes
2 Black cardamoms
2 Green chillies
8 Black pepper
Small piece Ginger
few Coriander leaves
1/2 cup of Oil
1 tablespoon of White cumin
1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon of Garlic paste




Step 1:

Wash chicken pieces before cooking and drain well so all excess water is removed from the chicken. Now heat some oil in a Wok and lightly brown your chicken pieces.


Step 2:

Now add your other ingredient, spices, chopped onion, garlic, tomato, salt and red chilli and stir well so everything is mixed in well, stir this over a medium fire so your onions are starting to for a glaze.


Step 3:

Cover the wok or pot with a lid and let it cook on low flame for 20 to 25 minutes. 


Step 4:

Chop ginger and green chillies in julienne shape, long wise. Take your wok of the heat and garnish your chicken karahi with the chopped ginger, green chillies and some fresh coriander leaves and serve with some rice or noodles and flat bread.



Now in Pakistan they would say "اپنے کھانے سے لطف اندوز
